BREAKING: Plane crash in Rostov-on-Don, 62 people killed

– Sixty-two people have been killed following a plane crash in Russian city of Rostov-on-Don – The flight was travelling from Dubai, it crashed on an attempt to land – It remains unclear what the cause of the crash is Emerging reports suggests that about 62 passengers and crew have died after a FlyDubai Boeing 737 plane crashed during an attempted landing in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don. According to officials of the Russian investigative committee, all 62 people on board Flight FZ981 travelling from Dubai, were killed in the crash  in the early hours of Saturday, March 19. They all died.” In a statement published on Twitter, the Dubai Media Office said 44 of the passengers were Russian, eight were Ukrainian, two were Indian and one was from Uzbekistan. Al Jazeera reports that the plane’s flight path, as tracked by Flight Radar 24, shows the plane made a number of turns near the Rostov-on-Don airport prior to the final attempted landing. It is believed to be the first time a FlyDubai plane has crashed. Flydubai said it was verifying the flight’s passenger list but that it appeared the jet’s 55 passengers included 33 women, 18 men and four children. Earlier, Russia’s Emergencies Ministry had said 50 of the passengers and one of the crew members were Russian citizens. An aviation official and a security official said at the time that two passengers were lightly injured when three or four bullets hit the body of the plane, but they were unable to specify the source of the gunfire.
