मौलानामाथि प्रतिबन्ध लगाउन अमेरिका, बेलायत र फ्रान्सले पनि समर्थन गरेका थिए । तर चीन एक्लै विपक्षले प्रतिवन्धको विरोध गरेको थियो । चीन कडारुपमा उपस्थित भएपछि १४ देश पछाडी हटेका छन् । संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघका पाँच स्थायी सदस्य राष्ट्रमध्ये चीन पनि एक हो । चीनले आफ्नो भीटो शक्तिको प्रयोग गर्दै भारतको यस प्रस्तावलाई रोकिदिएको हो ।
